His painting is inspired by the famous seventeenth-century engravings by Jacques Callot “The Dances of Sfessania”, from which I took a lot of iconographic material both for the paintings to be placed on the masks, and to model the masks of the characters of the Commedia dell’Arte, admirably interpreted by the nervous stroke of the famous French engraver. The character was enlarged and more detailed than the tiny original; finally it was placed in a bucolic landscape.
