(The Pending Sante)

A special serenity, a certain detachment, typical of the forgotten “Olympian gods”, seems to have descended on the forehead of the female figure sleeping on the last acropolis of paganism. She embodies the woman of the now disappeared Hellenistic classical world. A warrior Amazon, a young priestess, an ancient heroine, she allows herself a last rest before the final assault in which perhaps her civilization will disappear overwhelmed by violence and monotheistic barbarism. No more tolerance or freedom of multiform yet assimilated and assimilable cults. Similar if not the same in their myths and fundamental principles. Soon the ruins of the acropolis will be covered with churches, mosques and synagogues. Her heroic world will disappear under the advance of the new oriental religions that want to impose their one god.
On several occasions from the fourth to the seventh century, the Greco-Roman beauty that has dotted our world for centuries will be reduced to rubble. For now the brazier of the sacred fire still burns on the last acropolis. S.B.
