VESTALS IN ECSTASY

In the midst of a neo-pagan climate, the virgin priestesses consecrated to the temple of Vesta restore the Christian temple of S. Vitale in Ravenna to its ancient cult. History often repeats itself and, just as many pagan cults were outraged, their temples destroyed or converted to the new cult of the Nazarene (in direct competition with that of Mithras, whose main holiday it occupied, December 24, the feast of the sun in Roman times), so now in a world of pure fantasy, the Vestals reclaim at least some of the spaces they were deprived of.
